Even people that live under a rock can’t have missed what’s going on in the world right now.
I planned to not write anything about Corona on this blog. I changed my mind yesterday though when the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs discouraged everyone to go abroad for at least a month. This is the first time in modern times they make that decision, which honestly says a lot about the seriousness of the whole situation.
I did not have any trips abroad booked but had some loose plans for both Denmark and Germany. Guess I can scratch those because I don’t think the situation is going to be good any time soon. I do believe most of us are going to be infected sooner or later – the only thing we can do is slow the spreading down. We need to prevent everyone from being sick at the same time so the hospitals can put all their efforts into the ones actually in need. Listen to the authorities, wash your hands, stay at home if you have any symptoms and USE SOME COMMON SENSE.
Trust facts – not Facebook.
So how is Corona affecting me at the moment? My teachers at Uni have made everything digital so I can watch lectures and do assignments from home. Other than that, I live my life pretty much the same as I did a month ago but if the situation changes, so will I. I do feel a bit uncertain about traveling within Sweden though, and think it might be better to stay in Stockholm. At least for a while until we get more clarity. I’m not afraid of the virus for my own sake, but I’m going to take every precaution to make sure I’m not spreading it to anyone else. We all need to stay informed, but being scared and panic never leads to anything good.
So if we leave out the rest of the world and take it to a much smaller level: What’s going to happen with this travel blog when I plan to not travel for a while? I still have some travel diaries from Queenstown and Sunshine Coast (where the photos in this post were taken) to share, so definitely going to post them. I also can’t handle sitting around doing nothing, so hopefully, this whole situation with Corona and not being able to travel will spark some creativity in me.
